Why Dubai Media City matters in the regional media landscape
Dubai Media City was launched in January 2001 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as the first free zone in the Middle East dedicated exclusively to media. Scope activity & license family

Pick the legal form
FZ-LLC (FZCO with one or several shareholders), FZE (single shareholder), Branch of an existing entity, or Freelance Permit. We recommend based on shareholder count and visa needs.
Reserve trade name & package

Setup timeline
Initial approval in 5 to 7 working days. Full incorporation including lease, Establishment Card, entry permit, medical and Emirates ID runs 4 to 6 weeks. Freelance Permit is faster at 3 to 4 weeks.
Workspace is mandatory
DMC requires a physical workspace inside the cluster. Hot-desk from c. AED 12,000/year covers 1 to 3 visas, smart office scales further, dedicated office from c. AED 190/sq.ft for production teams.
Corporate tax & QFZP
UAE corporate tax kicks in at 9% on net profit above AED 375,000. Qualifying Free Zone Person status keeps qualifying income at 0%. Substance rules apply. Editorial revenue from UAE clients can fall outside QFZP scope.
Editorial & UAE Media Council
Broadcasting, News and certain Publishing activities trigger an editorial review at application and may require a UAE Media Council permit for paid content, influence marketing or sensitive coverage.

Yes, but the workspace can be a hot-desk. DMC requires a registered presence inside the cluster, but a hot-desk or GoFreelance desk from around AED 12,000/year is accepted as your registered address and covers 1 to 3 visas depending on the package.
Smart offices and dedicated offices unlock larger visa quotas, typically 1 visa per 8 sq.m of dedicated space.
